24 Dec Stay: Hilton Bali Resort
It’s Christmas Eve, a new COVID variant Omicron has been detected and I still haven’t seen my passport since I returned from my trip to Ghana in December 2019. COVID-19 has literally left me with nothing but throwbacks in terms of travel content and for a person who has a blog called Travel Girl Boss and Instagram handle of the same name, that is kind of an issue. I’m not only running out of throwback photo options, but caption ideas to justify posting photos from 2018, 2019 and the like, so I find myself reminiscing of better carefree days like the 5 night trip my siblings and I took with my mother in 2019 to Bali for her 60th birthday.
And, as if the universe or some other force knew that I was reminiscing and looking back, I woke up this morning to a message from Ketut, our driver from that trip, thanking myself and probably many other families and individuals he drove around Bali for their “ attention and support” and a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. So, here I am 2 years later… writing a blog post on our trip to Bali, because it was not only a wonderful trip that delivered on all expectations of Bali, but people like Ketut, were very real parts of that vacation, as he spent hours with us as we explored Ubud, watched us argue drunkenly after nights out and recommended where to go when we were looking for things to do.With this being the last stop on our trip, before heading back to the remainder of our working year of December 2019, we had all agreed as a family that when we got to Bali, the mandate was relaxation and unwinding. So when it came to looking for somewhere to stay, we decided that we really could not picture ourselves in the bustling and busy Seminyak region as we were all pretty sure that we wanted to wake up to hearing the waves of the ocean. So we ended up booking a resort in Nusa Dua, which is described as quiet and less busy than Seminyak by almost every blog I read, although I will admit, we did not go out exploring the area much, because we chose to on lay in days to stick to our hotel the Hilton Bali Resort.
With its many pools, gym and spa, this cliff side resort overlooks the Indian Ocean and the resorts’ stretch of private beach and as far as hotels go the Hilton Bali Resort, has good service, lovely rooms (we booked the ocean-facing rooms in the newly renovated part of the hotel), good restaurants and friendly and helpful staff. I’d recommend booking a room with an ocean view, because I can attest to the fact that waking in the morning to watch the sunrise over the ocean (even if that wake up call is jet lag induced) is truly something to behold.
